AUSTIN, Texas.– Freescale Semiconductor today announced that MontaVista Software, Inc., a leader in embedded Linux® technology commercialization, is the first global platinum sponsor of the 2009 Freescale Technology Forum (FTF).

The global platinum sponsorship enables Freescale and MontaVista to collaborate closely throughout 2009 to deliver consistent, high-quality training for FTF attendees worldwide. MontaVista has sponsored FTF events since the program began in 2005. This is the second consecutive year that MontaVista has joined FTF at the global platinum level.

In addition to supporting the FTF events, MontaVista continues to support Freescale’s latest innovative processors. MontaVista continues its comprehensive support for the QorIQ™ multi-core, Power Architecture® technology and i.MX multimedia offerings with P4080 support in the first quarter of 2009 and i.MX51 support following shortly thereafter. FTF events worldwide throughout 2009 will include demonstrations of MontaVista’s offerings for Freescale QorIQ and i.MX multimedia processors.

“The Freescale Technology Forum gives MontaVista multiple opportunities to show embedded developers how to get the most out of open source and Linux® operating systems when using Freescale solutions based on i.MX processors, Power Architecture technology and a broad range of other Freescale products,” said Rusty Harris, CEO of MontaVista Software. “Every year, more devices are built on Freescale platforms running MontaVista embedded Linux technology. FTF conferences are key for Linux developers who want to learn new techniques for accelerating development and adding competitive device functionality.”

“Freescale’s collaboration with MontaVista enables our next-generation, multi-core networking products with world-class Linux technology,” said Henri Richard, senior vice president and chief sales and marketing officer at Freescale. “The Freescale Technology Forum reaches customers around the world and provides the ideal environment to showcase and demonstrate the common goal our companies share: enabling our customers to create innovative, differentiated products.
