MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – Cavium Networks (NASDAQ : CAVM), a leading provider of semiconductor products that enable intelligent processing for networking and wireless applications today announced that multiple industry leading wireless infrastructure solutions using its market leading OCTEON Multi-core MIPS64 processors are being showcased at the 2009 Mobile World Congress (MWC) show in Barcelona, Spain. The OCTEON Wireless Processors are being used or designed into next generation wireless equipment such as Long Term Evolution (LTE) network elements, LTE Base Stations (eNodeBs), Evolved Packet Core (EPC) devices, 3G Basestations, 2G/3G network systems, Radio Network Controllers (RNC), xGSNs, Femtocells, Femto Gateways, WiMax basestations and ASN Gateways. Cavium’s OCTEON Multicore MIPS64 wireless processors are being designed into more than 40 wireless infrastructure platforms by telecom equipment manufacturers, many of which are being presented at MWC, Barcelona.

Cavium Networks’ provides an end-to-end wireless infrastructure solution with its software compatible and broad product line comprising of 25 different processors with 1 to 16 MIPS64 cores on a single system-on-chip (SoC). Furthermore Cavium has assembled over 100 partners who provide market leading software, middleware, COTS hardware, appliance form-factor hardware, operating systems and professional services to offer pre-integrated and optimized solutions to telecom equipment manufacturers. Specifically Cavium partners, Continuous Computing and mimoOn, last week announced the availability of their LTE software stacks on OCTEON processors. Using Cavium’s complete end-to-end solution and widespread partner support, telecom manufactures are designing product families leveraging and reusing software and hardware across their wireless product line.

“Cavium Networks is committed to providing industry leading performance, power and price points for the wireless infrastructure equipment market,” said YJ Kim, Sr. Director, Networking and Communications Division, Cavium Networks. “We are excited to see our telecom customers launch multiple OCTEON based wireless products with market-leading capabilities and performance at MWC 2009".

The OCTEON processor family is the industry’s broadest Multi-core MIPS64 based processor family with multiple price and performance points to address application performance ranging from 1Gbps to 20Gbps. The OCTEON processor family consists of processors with 1 to 16 cores on a single chip with integrated networking interfaces with industry leading hardware acceleration for packet processing, quality of service, TCP, Security, compression / decompression and pattern matching. OCTEON processors’ powerful control plane capability along with its advanced hardware accelerators have enabled telecom equipment manufacturers to introduce and deploy market leading, robust, low cost and low power Basestations to Gateways.

Cavium Networks will be displaying their products in Hall 2, Booth 2.1A04 at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain from February 16 to 19, 2009. To schedule a private meeting with Cavium Networks’ executives at MWC please contact Angel Atondo via email: angel.atondo@caviumnetworks.com
