Customer-Driven Enhancements Help Organizations Improve IT-Business Engagement and Maximize IT Efficiency.

CA NIKU 2005 GLOBAL USER CONFERENCE, BURLINGAME, CA, November 8, 2005 – Computer Associates International, Inc. (NYSE: CA) today delivered key enhancements to its flagship IT Governance (ITG) solution, Clarity, which enables organizations to achieve world-class IT performance.

The enhancements, which include browser-based scheduling, more flexible resource management and expanded features to support global deployments, have been designed to help users improve engagement between IT and the business and run IT operations at peak efficiency.

“CA continues to collaborate with customers to deliver the IT governance capabilities they need to optimally meet the needs of the business,” said Josh Pickus, senior vice president of the Clarity Division, Business Service Optimization (BSO) at CA. “Our most recent enhancements to Clarity further extend our industry leadership and help ensure our customers’ ability to achieve world-class IT value and performance.”

Clarity is part of CA’s Business Service Optimization (BSO) set of solutions, which enable IT organizations to maximize value from resources, deliver high quality services and increase IT-business alignment. CA worked closely with its Clarity customers during the development process on this latest set of product enhancements.

Industry-Leading Project Scheduling Algorithm Now Browser Based

Clarity users can now leverage the industry-leading Clarity Resource-Constrained Scheduling (RCS) algorithm directly within a Web browser. The same powerful scheduling algorithm available in CA’s Open Workbench, the RCS algorithm determines optimal project plans based on resource availability rather than on task duration, thus providing a more realistic plan in less time. Within the Clarity interface, users can set project constraints and dependencies, run the scheduling algorithm, create a tentative schedule, make changes, and publish the schedule to the plan of record — all via the browser — without having to download or maintain software. Users also can take advantage of Clarity’s seamless integrations to Open Workbench and Microsoft Project for desktop-based scheduling.

More Flexible Resource Management

To be effective, IT organizations must be able to quickly and appropriately allocate the right resources to the right projects. Clarity now allows this optimized allocation process to be performed dynamically — even as project plans and schedules are being changed — by empowering resource managers to shift resources based on evolving requirements. Clarity also now supports withholding certain functionality (such as access to project documents and time recording) from resources until they are formally assigned to a project, enabling greater process control. In addition, Clarity’s enhanced organizational breakdown structure (OBS) and reporting structure filtering ease the complexity associated with juggling demand across teams. IT department managers can use a variety of powerful resource analysis screens to zoom in on the capacity and demand for the specific needs of a particular part of their organization, for a certain line manager, and for custom groupings such as application area, customer or project type.

Additional product enhancements include:

* New features for support of large, global deployments that require robust localization, scalability and configurability.
* New language support including simplified Chinese, Czech, Italian, Swedish, Korean and Brazilian Portuguese. Existing languages supported include English, German, French, Spanish, Japanese, Dutch and Italian.
* Offline timesheet management in all supported languages, providing more flexibility for remote users in geographically dispersed organizations.
* Enhanced security, scalability and personalization, and expanded platform support, through upgrades to the Clarity architecture.
