Agilent Technologies Introduces Compact LXI-Compliant Power Meter that Enables Fast, Lower-Cost Startup of ATE Systems

Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today introduced the world’s first LXI-compliant power meter. This slim, compact power meter is just 1U high and supports LAN-based automated measurements of peak, peak-to-average ratio and average power. Its small size and ability to operate without shared power supplies, cardcages or system controllers enables a lower startup cost for an automated test system.

The Agilent N8262A P-Series is designed for seamless operation with widely used standards like Ethernet, Web browsers and IVI drivers, and integrates easily to work with existing test assets. With the convenience of LAN, users can perform remote access and control via a Web browser and bundled soft front panel GUI -- virtually anytime, anywhere.

“Every element of a test system plays a role in ensuring mission readiness,” said Ee Huei Sin, vice president and general manager of Agilent’s Basic Instruments Division. “The N8262A modular power meter is another way we help our customers build greater assurance in system readiness, and frees them to focus where it counts most.”

“The N8262A is truly a breakthrough innovation,” said Gooi Soon Chai, vice president and general manager of Agilent’s Electronic Instruments Business Unit. “Being the world’s first, it marks our commitment to continuous innovation and improved solutions to our customers.”

Further Information

The Agilent N8262A P-Series modular power meter is LXI Class C compliant. It has a high sampling rate of 100 MSa/s for fast, accurate and repeatable power measurements. Besides power measurements, the N8262A also performs time and CCDF statistical measurements.

Users can program the N8262A with various programming languages, including Agilent VEE, LabVIEW, LabWindows, C, C++ and MATLAB(r). For more complex analysis and advanced troubleshooting functions, the optional N1918A Power Analysis Manager software is available.

The Agilent N8262A is code-compatible with the Agilent P-Series power meters, and backward compatible with the P-Series, E-Series (except E9320) and 8480 Series power sensors. When used with the P-Series wideband power sensors, it offers a 30 MHz video bandwidth, up to 40GHz frequency coverage, a wide dynamic range of -35 dBm to +20 dBm and internal zeroing capability.
