Delta Celebrates Cosmopolitan Cuisine As Sponsor of 6th Annual South Beach Wine & Food Festival

Signature Crown Room lounge welcomes festival attendees with signature cocktails

Delta’s Mile High cookies and Celebrity Chef Fantasy Sundae Challenge to honor culinary talents

ATLANTA, Feb. 22, 2007 – Delta Air Lines will celebrate cosmopolitan cuisine as a proud, first-time sponsor of the 6th annual South Beach Wine & Food Festival, a three-day long event that has evolved into one of the foremost food and wine festivals in the country. From Feb. 23-25, Delta will host an impressive array of noted chefs and festival attendees in its signature Crown Room Club lounge and infuse its signature brand offerings into a variety of the weekend’s top tier events.

As host of the official Festival check-in, Delta is modeling the area after Delta’s own check-in counters: attendees will receive their Festival credentials and personal wine glasses from a baggage carousel-like conveyer belt. After completing check-in, attendees can visit Delta’s signature Crown Room Club lounge, a unique environment designed to replicate Delta’s new Crown Room Club experience at Miami International Airport, set to open in December 2007. The Crown Room Club lounge at South Beach will feature plush Maurice Villency furniture and two of Delta’s BusinessElite seats where attendees can relax and recline, along with an outdoor patio area overlooking one of the primary chef demonstration tents. It will also offer selections from Delta’s signature cocktail program – “Cocktails By Rande Gerber for Delta” – scheduled to debut on-board this spring.

As an official sponsor of the festival, Delta Air Lines will honor select participating chefs with Delta’s Mile High cookies – hand-iced sugar cookies from New York staple Eleni’s that will be imprinted with photos of renowned chefs in front of a scenic South Beach backdrop. Each day of the festival, five different chef cookies will be distributed to attendees as well as to guests staying at the Sagamore Hotel, where the cookies will replace the more traditional mints at turndown.

On Sunday, Feb. 25, the final day of the South Beach Wine & Food Festival, the public is invited to watch participating chefs battle it out in the Delta Fantasy Sundae Celebrity Chef Challenge, which will take place in the Crown Room Club lounge from 1:30 to 2:15 p.m. Noted chefs Tyler Florence and Dave Lieberman will each create a fantasy sundae to be judged by renowned chef Michelle Bernstein, who created Delta’s most recent BusinessElite menu and Caryl Chinn, who is a Contributing Editor for BizBash and also writes for Bazaar and W Magazine. In addition to judging the Delta Fantasy Sundae Celebrity Chef Challenge, Bernstein will lend her culinary expertise to Wine Spectator’s Best of the Best event, Friday, Feb. 23, from 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m., which showcases the finest reserves from around the world. Her tasting menu will include selections from her signature Delta BusinessElite cuisine.
