Chartered Reiterates Guidance For Third Quarter

SINGAPORE – September 6, 2006 – Today, in its scheduled mid-quarter update, Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing (Nasdaq: CHRT and SGX-ST: CHARTERED) reaffirmed its third-quarter 2006 guidance, which was originally provided on July 21, 2006.
“The quarter is essentially progressing in line with what we had anticipated earlier, and therefore we are reiterating the guidance we originally provided in July,” said George Thomas, senior vice president & CFO of Chartered.
Chartered plans to release third quarter 2006 results on Friday, October 20, 2006, Singapore time, before the Singapore market opens.
