MIPS Technologies Licenses Processor IP to Taiwan’s IC Plus Corp.

High-Performance, Flexible MIPS32® 24KEf™ Pro Series® Core to Power Next-Generation Digital Home Devices

SUNNYVALE, Calif. - MIPS Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: MIPS), a leading provider of industry-standard processor architectures and cores for digital consumer, home networking, wireless, communications and business applications, today announced that IC Plus Corp. licensed the MIPS32® 24KEfTM Pro synthesizable processor core for next-generation networking devices in the digital home. IC Plus, based in Taiwan, is a provider of integrated circuits for communications and networking.

“MIPS Technologies’ processors offer an ideal balance of price, performance and power, along with optimizations for enabling technologies that are keys for next-generation connected digital home devices,” said Albert Liu, vice president, R&D Division, IC Plus. “MIPS’ considerable ecosystem in the digital home, as well as its foresight and leadership in driving the AndroidTM platform into new devices and applications, makes MIPS an important partner as we help our customers develop innovative devices for the fast-growing digital home market.”

“As high-resolution, high-bandwidth digital content migrates into new connected devices, designers need processor IP that offers high-performance processing while being scalable to optimize for low power,” said Art Swift, vice president of marketing for MIPS Technologies. “With the industry’s best performance per milliwatt and our broad ecosystem in the digital home and networking, MIPS Technologies’ cores are ideal for next-generation converged products. We look forward to working with IC Plus, one of Taiwan’s leading providers of networking and communications chips, as they roll out MIPS-BasedTM designs.”

About MIPS32 24KETM Cores
The 24KE core family leverages the high-performance 24K® microarchitecture and adds the MIPS® DSP Application-Specific Extension (ASE), resulting in improved signal processing performance and efficient DSP capability while significantly reducing overall SoC die area, cost and power consumption. 24KE cores are supported by software development tools, the MIPS DSP Library and a third-party DSP applications network. Pro Series cores allow SoC designers to write their own instruction set extensions to significantly increase performance, reduce power consumption, implement critical operations and more, leading to highly differentiated and competitive products.

The 24KEf core includes a floating point unit that provides enhanced performance for graphics-intensive functionality, making it a critical technology for digital home devices and platforms such as Java, Adobe® Flash® Player and Android.
