CareFusion Wins Gold M2M Value Chain Award with Partner Axeda

WEBWIRE

San Diego, Calif. – CareFusion Corporation, the company that will become public from the planned spinoff of Cardinal Health, Inc.’s clinical and medical products businesses, and its partner Axeda Corporation, the on-demand intelligent asset management company, announced that they have won the prestigious M2M Magazine Gold Value Chain Award in the healthcare category for the CareFusion Remote Support Services program. This annual award recognizes the most successful commercial applications of machine-to-machine (M2M) technology and the solution providers that make their success possible.

The Remote Support Services program enables CareFusion to identify, diagnose, and repair products with remote access, diagnostic and software patch management capabilities. These features allow CareFusion to provide exceptional customer service by significantly reducing the time necessary to resolve reported issues and related system downtimes, all while meeting stringent security needs of hospitals. Deployed on more than 45,000 CareFusion devices and powered by the Axeda SmartLink Platform and Axeda ServiceLink applications, this unique technology solution supports numerous CareFusion product models – including the well-known Pyxis® and Viasys® brands – in hospitals throughout the world.

“The Remote Support Services solution enables us to remotely manage many of our product models and monitor the overall health of these devices,” said Steve Klis, senior vice president of customer support operations at CareFusion. “This technology enables us to provide a higher level of support and efficiencies to our global customer base, helping our customers to save time and improve patient care"

Hospitals all over the world rely on CareFusion products to help measurably improve patient care, and, therefore, they necessitate minimal service and enhancement interruptions. Recent examples of how CareFusion’s Remote Support Services program has assisted hospitals in minimizing interruptions and saving time include:

* Federal changes to Daylight Savings dates made a code change necessary across CareFusion product lines. With the automated software distribution capabilities provided through Remote Support Services, more than 1,500 customer sites were updated in fewer than three days without needing to dispatch service technicians to sites.
* CareFusion used Remote Support Services to implement an enhanced version of their Bio-ID security feature across their primary product line. Through the Remote Support Services software distribution channel, 39,000 devices were updated in fewer than 10 days without the typical requirement for on-site field technical support.

In addition to the M2M award, CareFusion recently won the Axeda Deployment Excellence Award. This award recognized the company for being on the leading edge of deployment success from a sheer volume standpoint, while driving high levels of internal adoption, as well as continued deployment growth rates.

“The team at CareFusion is extremely progressive in the way that they use our technology to deliver value throughout the service chain,” said Dale Calder, president and CEO of Axeda. "The Remote Support Services program is driven by a consistent focus on improving the customer experience, resulting in remarkably high deployment numbers in hospital environments with stringent security.”
