MUNICH and BURBANK, Calif. – Popular U.S. television series “Gossip Girl,” from Warner Bros. International Television Distribution, has become the first American TV program ever to be streamed online at ProSieben.tv, ProSieben"s online video portal, where it is available to consumers on an advertiser-supported basis.

German viewers who might miss a broadcast of the hot U.S. series on ProSieben, or those who just want to see it again, can catch up on “Gossip Girl” by watching the complete episode each week on the German Internet at the ad-supported www.ProSieben.tv. Each weekly episode of “Gossip Girl” is uploaded to ProSieben.tv directly after the free TV broadcast and can be accessed by viewers for a week thereafter, until the new episode debuts the following Saturday.

In addition to watching “Gossip Girl” on ProSieben and ProSieben.tv, German viewers can also find episodes of “Gossip Girl” – a week in advance of their broadcast debut on ProSieben – on Maxdome, Germany“s largest online video-on-demand platform. All complete episodes of ”Gossip Girl" and many other television series are available for purchase on-demand via DSL at www.maxdome.de.

The online presentation of the series will be supported exclusively through video advertising. SevenOne Media, the sales division of the ProSiebenSat.1 Group, has secured Johnson & Johnson and L"Oréal Paris as their first advertising clients for the new format. Johnson & Johnson is advertising its haircare/skincare product line bebe Young Care with 25-second pre-roll video ads. The responsible media agency is Xenion in Hamburg. The creative part of the campaign was completed by Heye & Partner, also out of Hamburg.

L“Oréal Paris also signed on, promoting their Coloration Casting Créme Gloss Glossy Honeys line via pre-roll video ads. Creative is from Moccu in Berlin, with media agency ZedDigital from Düsseldorf responsible for the campaign. Both Johnson & Johnson and L”Oréal Paris look to inspire young women with their new cosmetic lines.

Based on the best-selling series of young-adult novels by Cecily von Ziegesar and executive produced by Josh Schwartz (“Chuck,” “The O.C.”) and Stephanie Savage (“The O.C.”), “Gossip Girl” is a one-hour drama based on the lives of privileged New York City prep school teens. The students first learn that Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively – “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” movies), once the Upper East Side’s most notorious party girl, is back in town the way they learn all the important news in their lives: from the blog of the all-knowing albeit ultra-secretive Gossip Girl (voiced by Kristin Bell – “Veronica Mars”). No one knows Gossip Girl’s identity, but everyone in this exclusive and complicated vicious circle relies on her website, e-mail and SMS/text messages for the latest scoop. Even Serena’s closest friend, Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester), is surprised to find that Serena has suddenly ended her self-imposed exile to boarding school and returned to Manhattan. Keeping track of the shifting friendships, jealousies and turmoil in this wealthy and complex world isn’t easy, but it’s what Gossip Girl does best.

“Gossip Girl” stars Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Chace Crawford, Taylor Momsen, Ed Westwick, Jessica Szohr, with Kelly Rutherford and Matthew Settle. The series was developed for television by Josh Schwartz & Stephanie Savage, who serve as executive producers along with Leslie Morgenstein, Bob Levy and John Stephens. The show is a production of College Hill Pictures, Alloy Entertainment in association with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Paramount Television, and is distributed around the world by Warner Bros. International Television Distribution.
