Real Danger & Controversy Surrounds Sexy Female Magician’s Latest Escape Stunt

WEBWIRE

In the current age of CGI, special effects and ‘reality’ television, entertainment has lost its authenticity. On Sunday 21 June 2009, Singapore’s only professional female magician & escape artist, ‘Magic Babe’ Ning, will be bringing back real danger in a live extreme escape stunt.

Like an early-day Jackie Chan stunt, ‘Magic Babe’ Ning will be attempting a legitimately dangerous escape dubbed “Inversion”. This stunt is a one-off variation of her signature Straight Jacket Striptease act which Ning candidly describes as “Harry Houdini meets the Pussycat Dolls”.

In addition to being strapped up in the restraint jacket, the 26-year-old will also be blindfolded and suspended upside down by her ankles 3 stories high in the air.

What makes this escape unique is the fact that she will not be using any safety devices of any kind. Any mistake could lead to a fatal fall.

The choice of not using a safety line in the escape has drawn much concern and criticism from friends, family, clients, peers and supporters from across the world. Typically, escapes of this nature will utilize some form of fail-safes or safety devices that are either used openly or covertly.

‘Magic Babe’ Ning’s “Inversion: the blindfolded upside down straight jacket escape”, takes place on Sun, 21 June 09, 6pm at Central Gallery (retail mall located at Clarke Quay MRT).

Singapore’s fearless magical lady who was called “the sexiest woman in magic” (MagicSeen, UK) and was voted the 16th sexiest woman in the world (FHM Singapore) is no stranger to extreme escape acts. One year ago on 5 July ’08, ‘Magic Babe’ Ning became the first professional female magician in South East Asia to successfully attempt a mega escape.

In full-view of a surrounded audience of over 4000 people, ‘Magic Babe’ Ning swiftly lock-picked her way through handcuffs, locks, shackles and chains to free herself from a steel cage with a bed of 13 stainless steel spikes, timed to crash down on her in exactly 90 seconds.

The new Inversion escape stunt is to promote a mega magic event that ‘Magic Babe’ Ning and her onstage partner, J C Sum, will be helming as the closing highlight of the Singapore River Festival 2009 organized by the Singapore Tourism Board.

Entitled The Impossible Record, the magic duo is attempting to set a world record for “most number of grand illusions in 5 minutes” on Sat, 27 June ’09, 9.30pm at Central Promenade by the Singapore River.

These events are free and open to the public.
