Lund, Sweden, Scalado is pleased to announce that the GSMA has nominated its SpeedTags technology for the ‘Most Innovative Embedded Mobile or Device-centric Technology’ category as part of the EMEA leg of the 2010 Mobile Innovation Grand Prix competition, being held at the GSMA’s upcoming Mobile Innovation EMEA Event in Barcelona in June. The prestigious award is specifically designed for start-ups, small and medium sized organisations. It showcases promising entrepreneurs and recognises the leaders in the development of innovative mobile products.

With a global presence spanning the USA, Europe and Asia, Scalado has earned a worldwide reputation for providing mobile imaging software solutions that are powerful, scalable and modular for any camera phone. Scalado’s mission is to make imaging on mobile phones more efficient by bringing higher usability for end-users, and by cutting hardware costs for handset manufacturers who increasingly have to compete with products which can offer phone, email, camera, and music functions in a single device.

“We are thrilled with the number of high-quality entries we received for the EMEA leg of the 2010 Mobile Innovation Grand Prix competition,” said Bill Gajda, Chief Commercial Officer at the GSMA. “This event provides a rare opportunity for innovators to pitch new technologies to senior executives within the mobile operator, IT and venture capital communities.”

Scalado already lists the top five tier 1 mobile phone manufacturers as its licensees, and has doubled both its revenue and its total number of staff in the last year, thanks to its ongoing expansion in both Europe and Asia. By adopting Scalado’s technologies, manufacturers are drastically reducing development and device costs and significantly shortening time to market. For this reason, more than 350 million mobile phone handsets now feature Scalado software.

“We are extremely pleased to be nominated by the GSMA and to be recognised for the innovative work that we are doing at Scalado,“ says Fadi Abbas, VP Marketing and Business Development. ”Our technology has been specifically designed to bring the ultimate digital still camera user experience onto a mobile device. We are proud to be working with the world’s leading handset, HW platform and chip manufacturers to develop and provide new mobile innovations. This will lead to integrating our solutions into an even wider range of handsets in 2010.”

Over two days, ten nominees from around the world will present their products and services in front of an esteemed judging panel and a global audience at the GSMA Mobile Innovation EMEA Event in Barcelona, 17th-19th June 2009. The two overall winners will be competing as a Finalist for the Mobile Innovation Grand Prix Cup as part of the GSMA’s Global Mobile Awards at the leading event for the mobile communications industry, the Mobile World Congress, in February 2010.
