Silver Spring, Md. - its 24-hour forensics and investigation channel, will further expand its footprint in Europe, launching this month in Poland, Romania, Hungary and Greece. The network premiered in the UK in January 2009 following its U.S. debut in January 2008.

“ID: Investigation Discovery has become a key part of the Discovery Networks portfolio, enabling us to extend our diverse offering of quality channels and attract new viewers. This, alongside five years of proven audience growth across our brands, stands as testament to the strength of our product,” said Arthur Bastings, Executive Vice President and Managing Director for Discovery Networks EMEA.

Offering a compelling line-up of crime and investigative programming from the United States and around the world, ID: Investigation Discovery focuses on the science of forensics and how it is used to unlock the real life stories behind some of the world’s most fascinating investigations. The network uses dramatic, fact-based storytelling to provide in-depth analysis of investigations along with first-hand testimony from experts who uncover the evidence, methods and motives.

Targeted to adults 25 - 54 with a strong female skew, ID: Investigation Discovery will be fully language customized for these markets. The line-up will feature such programs as CALL 911, a powerful series where human dramas are played out through the calls between emergency services operators and those calling for help; and THE SHIFT, which follows a highly effective team of elite homicide detectives from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

International consumer interest in forensic and investigative programming is on the rise. According to internal research conducted by Discovery Networks EMEA, investigation and forensics is one of the most popular genres among adults and 48% of adult viewers across Europe like to watch investigative programs based on real events and crimes.

ID: Investigation Discovery is the seventh Discovery brand to launch in Romania and Hungary, in addition to Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, Discovery World, Discovery Science, Discovery Travel & Living and Discovery HD. It is the eighth Discovery brand to launch in Poland where Discovery Historia is also available.

Launched in the U.S. on January 27, 2008, Investigation Discovery continues to be the fastest growing cable network in the U.S. among the target audience of Women 25-54 and Women 18-49 (excluding news and kids networks).* ID: Investigation Discovery made its international debut in the UK in January 2009.
