(SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.) – January 28, 2009 – Bellrock Media’s U.S. subsidiary, Moderati, today announced the launch of their Digital Entertainment Studio, offering original programming opportunities for marketers and programming outlets in the United States and Japan. Moderati will be working with brands and distribution partners to create quality entertainment programming developed for these brands, production partners or for the company itself.

In the U.S., Moderati has hired Damon Berger as the new Director of Branded Entertainment, reporting to CEO, Jon Vlassopulos, to lead that division. In his new position, Damon will oversee development of original multi-platform entertainment properties for major brands, agencies and programming outlets. Prior to joining the company, Damon was the head of programming and business development for Revision3. During his tenure at the company, Damon helped to secure over 40 strategic business and distribution partnerships for the company with companies such as Hulu, YouTube, Joost, Yahoo, Dailymotion, MySpace and Veo. He started his career as a creative executive at Disney and helped form the company’s digital studio, Stage 9, having worked on numerous television, scripted TV and digital shows with top producers, writers and directors.

The newly formed studio already has projects under way with big-name brands such as Coca-Cola, Panasonic and Toshiba, and are co-producing original programming projects such as Ashton Kutcher’s “24 Hours at Sundance”, a real-time, online reality show competition broadcast live from the Sundance Film Festival, which received over one million views. Bellrock also recently partnered with Yahoo! Japan, the dominant portal in the country, to create a new generation online video service, Myzo, which is widely considered to be the “Hulu of Japan”. This work is building on Moderati’s existing work with branded entertainment applications, with successes such as the Virtual Zippo Lighter iPhone App, which has had over 2.5 million downloads thus far and continues to be downloaded 180,000 times a week, already under their belt.

“As platforms continue to bleed together, we are well positioned to create original programming and digital storytelling experiences that consumers and brands can get excited by,” said Jon Vlassopulos, CEO of Moderati. “We’re thrilled to offer new marketing opportunities to our partners by turning ad dollars into content.”
