San Francisco, CA – December 15, 2008 – Forum One Networks, a strategy and research group specializing in online communities, issued an invitation today to online community strategists, managers, developers, business people and tool providers to discuss experiences and strategies in the development and growth of online communities and social media. The Online Community Unconference takes place in New York, NY on Wednesday, February 11, 2009.

Last year’s unconference was attended by over 125 knowledgeable online community and social media experts from leading companies, including; AOL, MTV, Consumers Union, Cyworld, BusinessWeek, IBM, Microsoft, BlogHer, Spinvox, MediaBistro, Autodesk, Pitney Bowes, HP, TV Guide and Zagat.com. The attendee-created agenda featured over 40 collaborative breakout sessions on pertinent topics including: Social Media Optimization; User Managed Communities; Twitter for the Enterprise; Open ID; Community Analytics: Measuring Success & Failure; Community Building.

Participants regularly give feedback that they value the quality of content and the expertise of the senior-level practitioners that come to the Unconference. A participant from last year writes, “[I] loved the open format and ability roam from topic to topic. I met so many great people at this event and the interaction was much better than most conferences.” The Online Community Unconference promises to be an exciting open space event. “We are anticipating a sold out event this year,” says Bill Johnston, Chief Community Officer of Forum One Networks. “The best information comes from talking to people who are speaking from experience, and can share challenges and successes. Our unconferences give the participants an open platform to share, learn and collaborate.”
