Start-Up Finds Niche in Used Baby Items Market

Babyslist.com Launches in Austin and Surrounding Areas

AUSTIN, TX Babyslist.com is the leading baby product directory in Central Texas; today announced the launch of its Web site, babyslist.com. The user-friendly site provides parents a fast and free way to post their items for swap or sale.

Babyslist is a niche vertical directory that will serve the local Austin and surrounding communities in assisting parents, who want to sell, swap and search for all things baby, locally.

Founder of Babyslist, Jeff Chambers, says he wanted to create the site since last summer, after a shopping experience he had while looking for baby items for his daughter opened his eyes to the baby market. “I was amazed at how much stuff we needed, what it all cost and how short of a time period we would use it. Given the life cycle for most baby items are measured in months, I saw these items were barely used, or in some cases not even used at all before the child out-grew it. So naturally, I wanted to create a place where parents could market their used baby items to a very specific, local audience as well as find great bargains on all things for their baby,” says Chambers.

Babyslist.com is currently expanding its services beyond Austin, and expects to add several cities by the spring of 2009. “It’s my hope this site serves as a resource for local parents that may not have the means to buy new (baby products) as well as provide a platform for letting stay at home moms and dads make additional income without the cost of shipping charges and risk of fraud,” says Chambers.
