Law Firms Look to Gain Influence and Grow their Business in 2009

Marketing Partner Forum 2009 coming to Dana Point, Calif.

NEW YORK - Registration is open for the 16th Annual Marketing Partner Forum 2009, the legal industry’s leading conference on client development. The 2009 conference will be held at the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort in Dana Point, Calif., Jan. 28-30, 2009.

Presented by the Hildebrandt Institute and West Legalworks, the theme of the 2009 conference is “Lighting the Way: Strategies for Influencing Change.” The Marketing Partner Forum attracts senior-level law-firm marketers and managing partners, as well as senior leaders in marketing and business development within law firms, other professional service firms and client corporations.

Sessions in the conference will cover issues and opportunities by the crisis economy and how firms can capitalize on them. The event will feature two general sessions with prominent general and senior counsel from Hewlett Packard, Qualcomm Incorporated, the Clorox Company, General Motors, Del Monte Foods and Cardinal Health, Inc.

Of special interest this year will be a session discussing the Association of Corporate Counsel’s (ACC) groundbreaking “Value Challenge.” The ACC launched this project to help clients and firms connect the cost of legal services to their value and realign their business models. Panelists will include Michael A. Gruskin, managing attorney, commercial and product litigation at General Motors; Michael Roster, steering committee chair of ACC’s “Value Challenge”; and John E. Page, vice president, general counsel and secretary, Golden State Foods.

David Whyte, the author of “The Three Marriages: Understanding the Essentials of Work, Self and Relationship,” will deliver the keynote address at the conference on “Life at the Frontier: Courageous Conversations for Difficult Times.”

The event also will feature presentation of the Hubbard One “2009 Excellence in Marketing Awards”. Awards will be presented to the most innovative marketing professionals and projects in law firms and corporate law departments. Specific awards will be presented for Marketing Professional of the Year; Marketing Initiative of the Year; and Best Use of Technology to Support Marketing Efforts.
