Best-selling Covey book inspires board game examining trust

CARY, NC (Sept. 02, 2008) – SAS, the leader in business intelligence and analytics, hosted the Triangle, NC, launch of The Speed of Trust – A Simulation, a board game created by Donna Burnette, a partner of Tampa, FL-based Blueline Simulations . Experiencing the simulation of Stephen M.R. Covey’s popular book, The Speed of Trust, taught 20 area business people about the tangible measures of trust.

“Covey has challenged a new generation of leaders in his best-selling book The Speed of Trust,” said Dan Gregory, founder of Blueline Simulations. “He begins by defining the cornerstones of trust and the behaviors that impact them. The Speed of Trust – A Simulation allows participants to learn these behaviors, their counterfeits and how their effects can ripple out through your family, work group, organization, industry and society at large.”

Throughout the exercise, facilitated by Burnette, participants faced scenarios in which they had to determine the most appropriate courses of action. Each decision has repercussions that affect both time and money within the simulation. The content and instruction quickly illustrate the direct correlation between an organization’s bottom line and an increase or decrease of trust within that organization.

The overall goal of Blueline Simulation with The Speed of Trust – A Simulation is to offer valuable and effective training for organizations to discover behaviors that foster building trust, as well as actions that inhibit trust. Blueline tailors the simulation to provide customized exercises to organizations or groups.

“SAS is committed to education and training for its employees,” said Sackeena Gordon-Jones, Director of Learning and Development at SAS. “It was a privilege to be a part of the kickoff for this simulation. The concepts in the book are well thought out and the approach of the simulation allows participants to engage in the learning.”
