Healthy and green social networking site offers more user-friendly functionality

Redwood City, Calif. (August 20, 2008) - Care2 (www.care2.com), a social networking community of more than 9.4 million members committed to making a difference in the world and living a healthier and greener life, relaunches its web site today. The site was redesigned to enable members and visitors to easily navigate the rich array of content on the site, including healthy recipes, articles on green living, blogs and petitions.

When the site was launched in 1998, it was the sole online network for people interested in protecting the environment, human rights, animal welfare and other related issues. Over the years, Care2 has grown to be one of the most prolific action and information sites, with expert advice from green living gurus. In the past year alone, over 250 non-profits partnered with Care2 and over 25, 000 petitions and 9.2 million signatures were generated through the site.

The web site redesign improves the organization of Care2.com’s content, showcasing the most popular areas of the site and providing a more enjoyable user experience. And, Care2’s new logo, the butterflies, symbolizes the company’s belief that one person can take a small step and make a big difference.

“We have an opportunity to reach a broader base of people and empower them to take action in their lives to make the world a better place, which is more important than ever,” said Randy Paynter, CEO and founder of Care2. “By relaunching the site to be more user friendly, people can easily and quickly find the information and tools they need to make a difference.”

The newly designed Care2.com is organized into four areas: Causes & News, Healthy & Green Living, Take Action and Community. The site also maintains its popular free eCard service and includes archives of more than 4,000 articles.

New Healthy and Green Living Content

To provide the most comprehensive and well-rounded content and to reach parents, college students and Baby Boomers, Care2 is expanding the variety of new columns and blogs to include:

• Ask Dr. Brent: Dr. Brent Ridge, who specializes in aging and environmental impacts on health, hosts an exclusive Q&A for the site’s visitors. www.care2.com/greenliving/health-wellness/ask-dr-brent
• Walking the Talk with Sustainable Dave (Chameides): Saving all of his trash for 365 days, environmental educator and freelance filmmaker Dave Chameides, shares his experiences and discusses his impact on the Earth. www.care2.com/greenliving/blogs/sustainable-dave
• Intelligent Optimist, Jurriaan Kamp, founder and editor of Ode Magazine, offers his thoughts on people, events and ideas that are changing our world.

Additionally, Care2.com’s green living guru and executive editor Annie B. Bond is branching out by contributing to Body+Soul magazine and taking calls during Martha Stewart Living Radio’s “Whole Living” segment (www.marthastewart.com/radio/whole-living).

Furthermore, Care2 also offers articles from new partners, including: Eating Well, Kiwi, Ode and Organic Spa magazines. The content is designed to help members and visitors make informed decisions about health, wellness, beauty and natural living and is featured in Care2.com’s Healthy & Green Living section: www.care2.com/greenliving/
