PeopleSoft Customers to Benefit from Oracle’s Hot-Pluggable Service-Oriented Architecture.

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., 13-DEC-2005 Oracle today announced it has certified Oracle’s PeopleSoft Enterprise applications with Oracle(r) Fusion Middleware 10g Release 2. The certification enables customers to protect, extend and evolve their existing investments in PeopleSoft applications using Oracle Fusion Middleware, an integrated suite of standards-based middleware products for building and deploying Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA). This marks a key milestone in the delivery of the Oracle Fusion Architecture.

Oracle’s certification of PeopleSoft, Oracle E-Business Suite and JD Edwards EnterpriseOne applications with Oracle Fusion Middleware is expected to benefit customers both immediately and in the long-term. Today, the certifications make it easier for organizations to use SOAs to integrate their PeopleSoft applications with other packaged and custom applications as well as legacy systems using Oracle Fusion Middleware. Additionally, the common services-oriented middleware platform is expected to make it easier for customers to upgrade to new versions of Oracle’s applications; to integrate applications via portal, data and business process layers; and to define, manage and change security policies across a collection of business services while laying the overall foundation for a SOA.

Customers can Protect and Extend Existing Applications
The certification spans a broad range of capabilities within the PeopleSoft applications and Oracle Fusion Middleware. PeopleSoft applications can run on Oracle Containers for Java; they can be extended using Oracle JDeveloper and Application Development Framework - a Java EE standards-based Development Framework; and they can be accessed through a common portal using Oracle Portal via support for JSR-168 and WSRP Portlets.

Business services exposed from PeopleSoft applications can be orchestrated into composite applications and enterprise business processes using Oracle Enterprise Service Bus and Oracle BPEL Process Manager. The business processes and business events in PeopleSoft applications can be monitored in real time using Oracle Business Activity Monitoring and analyzed using Oracle Discoverer. PeopleSoft Applications can also be provisioned and secured using Oracle Identity Management providing better security, enterprise single sign-on, and enabling improved regulatory compliance.

ISV Community Benefits from Easier, Faster Application Integration
Oracle Fusion Middleware provides independent software vendors (ISVs) with a J2EE 1.4 compliant application server to run sophisticated enterprise applications; industry standard business process management technology to connect ISV applications to other systems; and business analytics, enterprise portal and identity management technology to build scalable, flexible and secure business applications. With the PeopleSoft and JD Edwards certifications, ISVs can use Oracle Fusion Middleware to more quickly integrate with PeopleSoft and JD Edwards EnterpriseOne applications.

“Certifying PeopleSoft for Oracle Fusion Middleware further demonstrates our commitment to delivering a comprehensive, hot-pluggable family of middleware products,” said Oracle Senior Vice President, Fusion Middleware Development, Thomas Kurian. “Today, PeopleSoft customers can join the more than 26,000 customers worldwide who have increased business agility with Oracle Fusion Middleware.”

“Middleware is playing an increasingly important role in applications and applications development,” said Oracle Senior Vice President, Application Strategy, Jesper Andersen. “While PeopleSoft and JD Edwards continue to be certified for IBM WebSphere and BEA WebLogic, the recent certification for Oracle Fusion Middleware expands our customers’ middleware options and provides a standards-based means of integrating various applications while providing a services-oriented middleware platform for customers planning to adopt applications stemming from our Project Fusion initiative.”

Pricing
Oracle Fusion Middleware for PeopleSoft customers is available for $60,000 per CPU. It features key components of Oracle Fusion Middleware including portal, BPEL, business-to-business integration, business activity monitoring, business intelligence, single sign-on, Web cache and the Oracle Fusion Middleware PeopleSoft adapter. Terms, conditions and restrictions apply.
