New chip family and advanced test solution confirms WiMAX readiness

SUNNYVALE, CA – January, 2008 – Beceem Communications Inc., Santa Clara, California-based leading provider of chipsets for Mobile WiMAX will demonstrate with LitePoint Corp., Sunnyvale California-based leader in wireless test-system solutions, real-time testing of the Beceem BCS200-based WiMAX Wave 2 reference designs. Testing will be done on LitePoint’s IQmax wireless-test-solution platform.

“WiMAX device makers want to know they can move from design to high-volume production in weeks rather than months or years,” said Babu Mandava, President of Beceem. “That takes a combination of superior chipsets that can be produced in high volumes; and system test solutions that span development to production, without cutting corners, while keeping test costs low.”

“Beceem has the chips, and LitePoint has the test systems, and this is an opportunity to show both at work,” added Benny Madsen, LitePoint Corp. CEO. “We’re demonstrating a WiMAX Wave 2 chipset and production-test solution that meets the speeds and costs demanded by the WiMAX market’s cost constraints.”

WiMAX Wave 2 profiles are based on the IEEE 802.16e-2005 standard and specifications published by the WiMAX Forum. WiMAX Wave 2 supports both fixed and mobile broadband wireless communications including multiple-input/multiple-output (MIMO) that increases data throughput without requiring additional channel bandwidth.
