November 15, 2005, The Orbit Satellite and Radio Network has become the first in the Middle East to offer the greatest collection of family favourites ever available with the addition of ‘Boomerang’ to its complement of family entertainment packages.

The classic animation channel from Turner - which can be enjoyed by all Mega, Prime and Kids package subscribers across the Middle East and North Africa - further reinforces Orbit’s family entertainment offering and solidifies its position as the unrivalled leader in the region, not only for young viewers but also for the young at heart.

Predominantly aimed at 4 - 9 year olds, Boomerang is dedicated to some of the best-loved classic cartoons ever made, including Top Cat, Bugs Bunny, Wacky Races, Captain Caveman, The Hair Bear Bunch and Penelope Pitstop, among others.

Ron Ciccone, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, Middle East at Turner Broadcasting Systems, said: “This deal is fantastic news for both companies and all subscribers. Cartoon Network is already extremely popular with Orbit viewers and the launch of Boomerang means we can offer something to all cartoon lovers throughout this region. Boomerang is a wonderful channel with appeal for all ages, an enormous range of cartoons and it’s a great place for people to go when they want to relax and laugh - we hope everyone will enjoy it!”

He added: “Our increased presence on Orbit will provide us with a great vehicle to build our profile in this key business market and we are looking forward to strengthening our relationship with Orbit and the offerings to their subscribers over the coming months.”

Orbit’s Senior Vice President of Western Programming and Creative Services, Mrs Khulud Abu-Homos, admitted to some child-like excitement about Orbit’s new Boomerang channel.

“Looking through the Boomerang schedule is like taking a walk down memory lane for many of us who enjoyed shows like the Flintstones and Tom & Jerry when we were kids. As the saying goes, ‘history repeats itself’ and in the spirit of the action of a boomerang, the real excitement of the channel is that its programmes have come back again, retaining all of their freshness and appeal for the next generation.

“We are thrilled to be the first in the Middle East to offer this vast collection of family favourites to our customers,” she added.
