ChemImage Introduces W.H.I.P. Technology for Dynamic Chemical Imaging

Pittsburgh, PA (ChemImage Corporation) – ChemImage, a world leader in Chemical Imaging technology, is pleased to announce the introduction of our W.H.I.P.™ (Wide-field Hyperspectral Imaging Platform) technology as the power behind our Falcon II™ and Condor™ Chemical Imaging systems.

This unique technology is the first of its kind to let users advance beyond static imaging to acquire the world’s first Raman movies. Now scientists can monitor dynamic process, analyze materials in motion and document reactions in real time, witnessing changes in the material composition and distribution as they happen.

“With mapping and other conventional Raman imaging techniques, dynamic imaging is often precluded because the sample has changed before an image with appropriate field-of-view size can be generated. With our W.H.I.P. technology, dynamic processes can be studied to reveal information about structure/activity relationships that we’ve never seen before,” stated David Tuschel, Director of Product and Applications Development.

What’s more, ChemImage’s W.H.I.P. technology is the only Chemical Imaging platform in the world to combine up to five distinct imaging modalities in one scalable platform. Our wide-field approach combines digital imaging with various spectroscopic techniques to allow scientists to obtain high-resolution chemical and spatial information often unseen with other imaging techniques. With these platforms, chemical movies can be generated using Raman, fluorescence, near-IR, and visible imaging techniques depending on the material(s).

Tuschel stated, “W.H.I.P. technology provides an array of imaging capabilities, enabling scientists to utilize the best imaging technique for their materials. The versatility of this platform enables viewing of the same sample region with each of these imaging modalities and cuts down on the frustration and risk of transporting samples.”
