November 8, 2005, Beverly Hills, CA — The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has chosen San Diego-based Studio 318, owned by Joan Maloney, to design graphics for the 78th Academy Awards, airing live on ABC, on March 5, 2006.

The Academy selected Studio 318’s concept from several hundred entries. Graphics for the Oscar campaign include posters, banners, print ads, postcards and outdoor advertising on billboards, transit shelters and taxi tops in Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, New York City and Philadelphia. The art will be unveiled in December.

As founder and president of Studio 318, Maloney has been responsible for the concept, design and implementation of marketing and design programs for large and small businesses alike. During her 20 years in the industry, Maloney has won numerous awards in design, printing, paper and trade competitions.

“I’ve been a fan of classic films since I was a little girl,” Maloney said. “It is a dream come true to actually create the theme and look of an Oscar campaign.”

Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements for 2005 will be presented on Sunday, March 5, 2006, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland®, and televised live by the ABC Television Network beginning at 5 p.m. PST.
