Linksys, a Division of Cisco, the leading provider of VoIP, wireless and networking hardware for the consumer and small business environments, today announced that the company is a recipient of the prestigious Ventana Research 2007 Performance Management Leadership Award for operational excellence in supply chain management. Linksys has been recognized for improving business performance through its new processes in matching forward-looking supply and demand to better manage inventory levels while decreasing the volatile demand on the rest of its supply chain.

“Linksys stands out as a global best-practice leader with its implementation of operational performance management methods and sales and operations planning (S&OP) technology, said Colin Snow, vice president and research director of operational and supply chain performance management at Ventana Research. “We recognize them with this leadership award because of their cross-functional adoption across sales, marketing, product and operations and the positive business results achieved.”

Linksys has been experiencing success in the home and small business networking markets for a number of years. The global expansion of the company along with additional products and services lead the company to develop and use a new process and system that would help achieve better operational alignment across its entire organization, making it easier to formulate responses to the market, better manage competitive pressures and address unexpected industry events. As part of the new process development, Linksys selected to work with Symphony Metreo and IBM to implement the new business practices.

“It is important for us to have a system and process in place that helps reduce the impact of demand volatility on the supply chain, while decreasing inventory and maintaining a high level of customer service,” said Mark Payne, vice president of World Wide Operations of Linksys. “The work we did with Symphony Metreo enables us to not only address our performance management needs but also helps us exceed our strategic operational and business goals.. To be honored by Ventana in this way is a true testament to the hard work and dedication of our Linksys teams along with Symphony Metreo.”

Linksys is recognized for its operational processes and performance around supply chain management based on the successful implementation of Symphony Metreo’s Finance Sales and Operations Planning (FS&OP) Manager™. FS&OP Manager has helped Linksys achieve significant performance improvements across the company including a 90 percent reduction in expedited shipping, a decline in overall shipping costs, and a decrease in inventory alongside a significant drop in stock-out events.

“We congratulate Linksys for its achievements in aligning and synchronizing supply chain operations, while driving deeper cross-functional collaboration across the organization,” said Tal Ball, CEO of Symphony Metreo. “To be recognized by Ventana for this achievement is further testament to the dramatic results that follow proper prioritization of operational goals.”

Awardees were chosen by an expert research team of Ventana Research, by scoring the submissions based on overall best practices plus alignment of people, process, information and technology and business impact. Winners were announced yesterday afternoon at Connections 2007, the BI Conference for Operational and Customer Performance Management, which were held in San Francisco.
