Enterprise And Industrial Designers Turn To AMD Geode™ And AMD Alchemy™ Solutions For Low-Power, High-Performance Processing

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- October 25, 2005 --AMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced a series of design wins for its low-power AMD Geode™ and AMD Alchemy™ processors; customers include Wyse Technology, DT Research, Unisys Brazil, Chip PC Technologies and DSP Design. AMD embedded solutions provide low power consumption giving designers the freedom to create efficient and versatile devices for a wide variety of applications, including thin client computers, single board computers, set-top boxes and personal media players (PMPs).

Especially effective for the rapidly growing thin client space, AMD Geode processors deliver tightly integrated CPU and graphics operations and high performance for on-demand computing. Wyse Technology, the leader in thin computing, incorporated AMD Geode processors for the entire Wyse® Winterm™ S-class family of thin clients, which can be deployed with Wyse O/S 5.0 (formerly known as “Blazer”), Windows CE 5.0, Wyse Linux V6 and Windows XP Embedded.

AMD also is announcing a design win with Unisys that will leverage the AMD Geode GX processor for the WBT 1000 thin client device being manufactured in Brazil.

Chip PC Technologies recently unveiled the Jack-PC – a versatile thin client computer fully integrated into a wall LAN jack – that leverages the low-power, high-performance networking capabilities of the AMD Alchemy™ Au1550™ processor.

UK-based DSP Design, which supplies embedded computing modules to a variety of embedded systems including seat back entertainment, medical equipment, POS systems and industrial instruments, also takes advantage of the AMD Alchemy platform benefits. The highly-integrated Athena AA1200 launched this week by DSP Design uses the low power and small footprint of the AMD Alchemy Au1200™ system-on-chip (SoC) for a range of devices including PMPs and Digital Media Adapters.
