WEBWIRE

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)® today announced that Gary Yacoubian, president and chief operating officer of MyerEmco Audio/Video, will become the new vice-chair of the Executive Board. CEA’s Executive Board determines CEA policies, manages the association’s affairs and defines the qualifications, procedures and dues for membership. Yacoubian’s appointment marks the first time in CEA’s history that an executive from a CE retailer has assumed a top association leadership position.

Pat Lavelle, president and CEO of Audiovox, will continue to serve as chairman of the Executive Board. “I’m delighted to have Gary Yacoubian as vice-chair of the Executive Board,” said Lavelle. “An industry veteran and active CEA volunteer, Gary has shown extraordinary leadership over the past several years and I look forward to his contributions in this new role.”

Yacoubian has served on the Board of CEA since 2006 and has also served as chairman of its PARA Division, representing more than 200 specialty audio/video retailers. He also serves as chair of CEA’s Division Executive Board, the governing body of all divisions within the organization.
