Comprehensive Video Quality Survey Confirms Tektronix as Clear Choice for HD OB Test and Measurement

WEBWIRE

Tektronix, Inc. (NYSE: TEK), a leading worldwide provider of test, measurement and monitoring solutions, announced that a comprehensive survey by one of Europe’s leading broadcast industry trade magazines has shown Tektronix test and measurement technology to be the near-unanimous choice for the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region’s rapidly growing fleet of high definition outside broadcast (OB) vans.

The special report - published by Medien Bulletin, one of Europe’s premier broadcast industry trade publications - provides 240 detailed pages about the HD-ready OB vans across EMEA and the extensive range of modern technology selected utilized within each. Of the total of 416 OB vehicles known to be currently operating throughout this vast region, 104 have been converted or purpose-built to specifically handle HD broadcasts. Of those 104 HD-ready OB vehicles, 94 percent selected Tektronix as the provider of choice for precision HD test and measurement, making it by far the most dominant supplier in test and measurement.

Eben Jenkins, Business Director, Video Test, Tektronix, Inc. said, “We excited about the overwhelming validation represented by the results of this survey by Medien Bulletin. Service providers throughout the video delivery ecosystem worldwide have relied on Tektronix for decades. That they continue to turn to us in the exciting new world of high definition is a tribute to our technology and the highly skilled people who are behind it.”

Tektronix has been at the forefront of the European HD wave since Alfacam, one of Europe’s largest television facilities providers, chose Tektronix to equip new HD OB trucks and studio facilities with multi-format, multi-standard waveform monitors, waveform rasterizers and signal generators for the 2004 launch of “Euro1080”, the Continent’s first HD-only broadcaster.
