D-Link’s Wireless USB Solution Utilizing High-Speed Ultra-WideBand Protocol Recognized for Industry-Wide Interoperability.

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif.— D-Link, the end-to-end networking solutions provider for consumer and business, is among the first to receive Wireless USB certification granted by the USB-IF (USB Implementers Forum), which has officially recognized the D-Link® Wireless USB Kit - consisting of the Ultra-Wideband (UWB) USB Hub and Adapter - as Certified Wireless USB devices.

Wireless USB technology enables consumers to connect devices such as printers, scanners, game controllers, and digital cameras to their notebook or desktop PC wirelessly at speeds that exceed those of Bluetooth®.

The distinction guarantees interoperability among certified Wireless USB peripherals, robust security, and compatibility with upcoming certified Wireless USB gear, including printers, scanners, digital cameras and external drives.

“The deployment of end-user products like D-Link’s Wireless USB Hub and Adapter is vital when transitioning a new technology into the marketplace,” said Jeff Ravencraft, USB-IF president. “These types of products deliver the benefits of Certified Wireless USB to consumers, and allow them to maintain the investments made in their legacy PCs and devices. Consumers can also look forward to new Certified Wireless USB products with the technology built right in.”

The D-Link Wireless USB products are among the first to undergo USB-IF testing and subsequently receive certification. As a result, they will be labeled as Certified Wireless USB products and will bear the Certified Wireless USB logo alerting consumers that the merchandise has proven to be compliant with the Wireless USB 1.0 Specification from the USB-IF and achieved certification.

Delivering significantly faster speeds over other short-range wireless technologies, products based on the new Ultra-Wideband standard offer consumers greater bandwidth to support large amounts of data at lower power levels, distances of up to 30 feet, and higher data rates up to 480 Megabits per second*.

“The high data rate of the Ultra-Wideband wireless technology will enable consumers to transfer audio, video, and large data files from USB peripherals to their PCs more efficiently,” said AJ Wang, chief technical officer of D-Link. “We’re proud to be among the first to receive Certified Wireless USB status and be able to offer a solution that is fully compatible with upcoming Certified Wireless USB products.”

D-Link’s Certified Wireless USB products are capable of delivering the convenience of Wireless USB to existing wired USB devices. The (DUB-2240) 4-port Wireless USB Hub and the D-Link (DUB-1210) Wireless USB adapter, offer consumers the ability to extend the range of their existing USB printers, scanners, and other devices up to thirty feet by simply connecting the USB adapter to their laptop or desktop PC and attaching up to four devices on the corresponding hub. In addition D-Link offers a kit (DUB-9240) that includes both the wireless USB adapter and 4-port wireless USB hub.
