Nielsen Names Paul Baynton General Manager of IMS Worldwide


Paul Baynton, has been appointed General Manager of IMS Worldwide, The Nielsen Company’s media planning and analysis software business. The announcement was made today by Susan D. Whiting, Executive Vice President of The Nielsen Company.

Baynton brings 30 years of media industry experience to his new role. Based in New York, he will hold responsibility for IMS global sales, service and analytics. In his former position as Managing Director of IMS International based in London, Baynton helped grow the business both within the UK and internationally, having played a key part in developing and implementing IMS international growth strategy.

“Paul has been with IMS for more than two decades and has demonstrated tremendous analytical and leadership strength during his tenure,” said Whiting. “I am very confident that Paul will successfully guide IMS day to day and build new opportunities for the business moving forward.”

Baynton received his MBA from Kingston University. He is a graduate of Cambridge University with a degree in Geography.

After graduating, Baynton worked as a media planner/ buyer in one of London’s major advertising agencies, followed by a period as a Director of MediaTel, the UK’s leading online media news and information database. Baynton joined IMS UK in April 1986.
