Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc., one of the world’s leading suppliers of innovative computer products including hard disk drives, peripherals and biometric security solutions, today announced the launch of its MHY2250BH series mobile hard disk drive (HDD). The new Perpendicular Magnetic Recording (PMR) drive series attains up to 250GB, the industry’s highest capacity point for a 2.5” 5400RPM HDD, and was developed in response to the growing demand for higher capacity storage products required for notebook PCs and consumer electronics. The MHY2250BH samples will be available to specific customers in the second quarter of 2007.

The latest Fujitsu SATA HDD was also developed for portable consumer electronics, where the key to success lies in reducing noise, vibration, and power consumption. The latest 2.5” HDD addresses the demands of the rapidly developing high-end audio/video computing market, particularly in applications such as gaming, video editing, audio recording, and DVR functionality. Engineered using PMR technology, the new HDD includes best-in-class power consumption at 0.6W(Idle), as well as near-silent operation.

“The MHY2250BH series expands the storage capacity of mobile products in step with the surging growth of multimedia content and the rapidly changing mobile environment, while delivering the reliability that has made Fujitsu a technology leader in the industry for more than 35 years,” said Joel Hagberg, vice president, marketing and business development, Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc. “Fujitsu mobile hard drives are well known in the industry for their exceptional performance and reliability, and our latest high-capacity SATA drive is another clear win for the company and industry.”

¹One gigabyte (GB) = one billion bytes; accessible capacity will be less and actual capacity depends on the operating environment and formatting.
