AT&T Mover’s One Source Program Streamlines Moving Process

Summertime often triggers thoughts of family vacations at the beach, leisurely afternoons watching baseball, or enjoying a tasty ice cream cone; however, it also marks the nation’s peak moving season, with more than 19 million Americans choosing to pack up and move to a new home during the months of May through September.

To help make a stressful relocation process more bearable for movers across the country, AT&T offers the AT&T Mover’s One Source service that provides support every step of the way, including transferring or establishing phone, Internet, wireless and entertainment services, establishing utility services, hiring moving vans and cleaning services, and processing change of address forms. And for the first time, former BellSouth customers can now take advantage of this service, in addition to existing AT&T and non-AT&T customers alike.

“Moving ranks as one of the top three most stressful life events. Our online resource will help customers to manage the challenges and headaches associated with a move with just a few clicks of the mouse,” said Carmen Nava, senior vice president, AT&T Consumer Marketing. “AT&T Mover’s One Source saves customers time and money by helping them plan their move and set up their essential services, like phone, broadband and entertainment, with a single visit.”

Research shows that consumers on the move are ripe to switch communications providers and to upgrade their services. In fact, half of new home buyers upgrade to more expensive entertainment packages and almost 70 percent buy broadband, compared with 38 percent nationwide. AT&T historical data also shows about a 10 percent spike, on average, in new phone orders during the peak moving season.

AT&T Mover’s One Source provides a one-stop resource for free online (www.att.com/move) or call center (800-MOVE-ATT) resources and content to help manage the millions of details involved with a move. The services are part of the company’s strategy to encourage new homeowners to call AT&T first to establish all of their communications and entertainment services. The company has also established relationships with companies like WhiteFence to help consumers compare and order other essential home services quickly and easily.

As part of the AT&T Mover’s One Source services, AT&T is offering various “cash back” and bill credit incentives ranging from $50 to $300, depending on the services connected at the new address.

AT&T also offers a number of service bundles and incentives designed to make it easy and affordable for consumers to bundle all of their communications and entertainment services with AT&T. The AT&T Triple Pack, which includes local, long distance, high-speed Internet, and digital TV, is available for under $100. Also, consumers who order qualifying satellite TV services, and high-definition programming, can get one year of free access to high definition service at no additional cost, which has a value of up to $240 Free access to high definition programming is also available for AT&T U-verse customers, which has a value up to $120. “AT&T is the complete provider for the way we live and offers practical incentives to address each stage of the mover’s life cycle, from pre-move, to moving day, to post-move, with just a single phone call or online visit,” said Nava.

The AT&T Mover’s One Source Web site provides a streamlined approach to managing the moving experience, and groups tasks into five “boxes” on a typical moving to-do list, including:

Priority — Helps with critical tasks that site visitors generally need to take care of immediately, including communications and entertainment services, energy services, change of address, movers quotes and self-storage.
During the Move — Helps visitors find services that will make the packing, shipping and moving process as simple as possible, including movers, boxes and packing supplies, self-storage and auto shipping.
Home Care — Connects visitors to essential services as well as optional services including utilities, carpet cleaners, locksmiths, heating and cooling, home furnishings, lawn care and pest control.
In the Neighborhood — Helps visitors start life in their new neighborhood by linking them to newspaper delivery, maid services, appliance and furniture rental, home furnishing, home improvement — even magazines and bottled water.
Banking Services — Helps site visitors set up financial services, including home warranty, banking, insurance, renter’s insurance and mortgage services.
