“I Heard That” follows a young woman whose life changes after a series of chance encounters leads her to a man who captures her interest. An unexpected bump on the head gives her an unusual ability: she can hear other people’s thoughts without their knowledge. While this newfound power offers surprising advantages, it also brings challenges that affect her relationships and decisions. As she navigates these experiences, she begins to discover deeper truths about herself and the people around her.
Gorrell draws on her interest in suspense, romance, and comedy to develop stories that explore different aspects of human experience. Born in Sunset Hills, Missouri, she grew up as the youngest of six children in a close-knit family. After facing challenges in school, she gained confidence through operating a successful daycare with eight employees and more than 100 children. After selling her business, she pursued her passion for writing.
Gorrell now lives on a farm in Redbird, Missouri, with her husband. They enjoy spending time with their grandchildren and caring for draft horses, Great Dane dogs, and cattle.
Through its participation in the Guadalajara International Book Fair 2026, ReadersMagnet continues to help authors share their books with wider audiences and create opportunities for literary discovery across borders.
