Praise the Bar visits Lisbon: where everyone has a place at the table

Lisbon, Portugal / Amsterdam, NL – WEBWIRE –

What makes a restaurant feel like home? Sometimes it’s difficult to put into words. It might be the person who welcomes you through the door. The food you look forward to ordering. The familiar noise of a busy room. Or simply knowing there will always be a place for you at the table.

In the ninth episode of Praise the Bar, The HEINEKEN Company travels to Lisbon to visit Cervejaria Ramiro, where those ingredients have been bringing people together for 70 years.

Founded on 7 April 1956 as a small traditional tavern, Ramiro evolved as seafood was added to the menu and gradually became one of Lisbon’s most recognised seafood restaurants. It has also been a customer of Central de Cervejas since its foundation.

Food is an important part of the Ramiro experience. Seafood takes centre stage, with the restaurant also known for ending the meal with another Portuguese favourite: the prego no pão, a steak sandwich that has become one of its signature rituals.

Add a cold Sagres beer, and you have a combination people have enjoyed around these tables for generations. But what makes Ramiro special goes beyond the menu. It is the atmosphere around it: tables filled with conversation, families eating together, friends catching up, visitors experiencing Lisbon and regulars returning to somewhere familiar.

A natural place for connection

That is also what Praise the Bar celebrates. Bars, cafés and restaurants aren’t simply places where food and drinks are served. At their best, they give people a reason to step out of their routines and spend time together. In an increasingly digital world, those moments of real connection matter. Sometimes all it takes is good food, a beer and a table.

Today, Cervejaria Ramiro welcomes both local guests and visitors from around the world, while remaining firmly rooted in Lisbon and Portuguese hospitality. Its story is a reminder that places can evolve without losing what made people love them in the first place: good food, a warm welcome and the feeling that there is always room for one more around the table.
