“Can Dragons and Frogs Ever Be Friends? Second Edition” to Appear at Frankfurt Book Fair 2026

A new edition of Trudi J. Carter’s “Can Dragons and Frogs Ever Be Friends?” will travel to the Frankfurt Book Fair 2026. This children’s book will be presented by The Maple Staple from October 7 to 11 at Messe Frankfurt in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Copies of the book’s Second Edition will be distributed to visitors at Hall 5.1, Stand D86.

Set in Great Forest, the story begins when two frog-eating dragons disrupt the peace with their flames and roars. Forest Squirrel writes to Beach Bird about the destruction only to receive troubling news in return. An Ancient Rhyme declares that dragons and frogs can never be friends, while Owl warns that a dragon egg is on its way creating another threat for the frogs.

The situation becomes more complicated when the mother dragon leaves for a 200-year vacation, and the father dragon is left responsible for the egg. His poor decisions eventually send the egg to the bottom of Deep Pond. With no help from Ocean Wave City, the forest community faces a difficult question: is there anyone capable of solving the crisis?

The answer comes from Melville, a brave frog whose compassion and common sense make him an unexpected hero. Throughout the story, readers encounter lessons involving letter writing, original research, problem-solving, and analyzing the effects of personal choices. The Second Edition places additional focus on bullying and compassion, while its expanded illustrations add a new artistic dimension to the story.

Carter’s background in education strongly influences her approach to children’s literature. Her career spans more than three decades, including elementary education, accelerated learning programs, and six years of personalized tutoring. Teaching students in New York, Iowa, and Georgia, she has developed unique teaching methods centered on analytical learning, and her conviction that all children want to, and can, succeed, in her other book, “True Learning.”

Now living in Lawrenceville, Georgia, Carter continues to combine education and creativity through her writing, recently designing an original method for learning cursive writing, “Swoops, Loops, and Curls - From Print to Cursive.”

At this year’s Frankfurt Book Fair, “Can Dragons and Frogs Ever Be Friends? Second Edition” will be available at The Maple Staple’s Stand D86, with copies distributed to fair visitors.
