“Burn Fuel Better” Brings Climate Solutions Conversation to Frankfurt Book Fair 2026

“Burn Fuel Better: From Helpless to Hopeful in the Race Against Climate Change” by accomplished interdisciplinary pioneer Donald Owens will be presented at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2026, bringing its discussion of climate change, fuel technology, and practical emissions solutions to an international publishing audience. The book will be featured by The Maple Staple from October 7 to 11 at Messe Frankfurt in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, with copies distributed throughout the five-day event at Hall 5.1, Stand D86.

“Burn Fuel Better” addresses the growing concerns surrounding climate change while examining what Owens describes as mistakes and delays in current approaches to the crisis. The book focuses on practical measures that can be implemented today rather than solutions dependent on changes decades into the future. Among its central subjects is an accidental discovery involving diesel engines and the reduction of certain emissions, including black carbon, through a different approach to fuel combustion.

Owens presents the technology behind this work through the LeefH2, a customized hydrogen solution that he has spent more than a decade developing. According to the author, the technology has been tested and verified in laboratories approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The book connects this work to a broader discussion about how individual fuel-burning vehicles and applications could contribute to efforts to reduce harmful emissions.

The subject draws on Owens’s background in both engineering and law. He holds an engineering degree from General Motors Institute, now Kettering University, and earned his law degree from Georgetown University. He began his professional career as a patent attorney with Western Electric and Bell Labs before moving into technology and business leadership.

Owens later served as CEO of Business Internet Systems, where he developed technology solutions for government organizations. His work included launching an online platform serving business card printing needs for the U.S. Congress, the Executive Office, and the Department of State, as well as work involving web and networked database optimization for the U.S. Census Bureau.

Today, Owens is focused on hydrogen-related engine and energy technologies and holds 19 patents connected to his work. “Burn Fuel Better” brings that technical background together with his perspective on climate change and the possibilities he sees for reducing emissions through fuel technology.
