ReadersMagnet will display Dennis H. Busch’s “An Old Man Shall Lead Them to Victory: More Real Heroes of Omaha Beach” at a book festival at Printers Row in Chicago.

ReadersMagnet is proud to exhibit Dennis Busch’s “An Old Man Shall Lead Them to Victory: More Real Heroes of Omaha Beach” at an upcoming book Festival at Printers Row in Chicago. The free, outdoor literary event will take place on September 12-13, 2026, along South Dearborn Street from Ida B. Wells Drive to Polk Street.

Dennis H. Busch presents a powerful account of the western sector of Omaha Beach during the D-Day invasion. “An Old Man Shall Lead Them to Victory” follows the 29th Infantry Division as it faces its first battle against determined German forces. It also highlights the courage of the Rangers, Combat Engineers, and Brigadier General Norman “Dutch” Cota, whose leadership helped change the course of history.

At the age of 50, Cota was the oldest American on the beach, but he was also the old man on the beach and amidst the fray whose leadership, courage and decisiveness made a critical difference in the battle’s outcome.

Rather than focusing only on famous moments, Busch shines a light on the forgotten heroes whose sacrifices made victory possible. His research honors ordinary soldiers who displayed extraordinary courage in defense of freedom and democracy.

Busch’s passion for history spans decades of studying the American Civil War and World War II. That commitment inspired his Omaha Beach trilogy, which seeks to recognize brave individuals whose stories deserve to be remembered.

“An Old Man Shall Lead Them to Victory: More Real Heroes of Omaha Beach” offers an inspiring tribute to courage, leadership, and sacrifice while reminding readers of the people whose actions helped shape the modern world. Get a copy today on Amazon.
