Automechanika 2026: The Future is NEUTRAL showcases its latest innovations for a competitive circular automotive economy

• At Automechanika (Frankfurt, 8–12 September 2026), the world’s leading automotive aftermarket trade fair, The Future is NEUTRAL will showcase its unique European circular economy model for all vehicle manufacturers and automotive suppliers, as well as its latest innovations developed with its subsidiaries THE REMAKERS, GAIA, INDRA AUTOMOBILE RECYCLING and OPISTO.
• THE REMAKERS will unveil its new European electric motor remanufacturing offer, with a 100% guaranteed “as good as new” offering at an average price 30% lower than new. Additionally, the company will present the results of a study conducted with Quantis on the environmental impact of remanufacturing.
• GAIA will showcase its expertise in materials recycling, battery repair and parts recovery, helping to preserve resources.
• INDRA AUTOMOBILE RECYCLING will showcase its expertise in eco-design for automotive recycling and repairability, as well as its “Valeur 2030” strategic plan, focused on creating circular value and transforming the sector.

• On 8 September (3:00–4:00 p.m.), Sophie Schmidtlin, CTO of The Future is NEUTRAL, will take part in a roundtable dedicated to automotive recycling, entitled: “A treasure trove of raw materials on wheels: What component management and recycling can really achieve?”

At Automechanika, The Future is NEUTRAL will bring together the expertise of its subsidiaries THE REMAKERS, GAIA, INDRA Automobile Recycling and its partner OPISTO, showcasing the complementarity of its industrial model and its ability to transform end-of-life vehicles into new resources.

A key highlight of the show, THE REMAKERS, a leading player and pioneer in automotive remanufacturing, will unveil its new industrial remanufacturing offering for the 6AM electric traction motor, a European first for Renault Megane, Scenic and Master vehicles. This innovation brings motors back to market with performance and reliability equivalent to new, while reducing their cost by around 30% and their environmental impact. With this new solution, THE REMAKERS reinforces its role as a driving force for innovation and expands its range of remanufactured components for electric vehicles, which already includes the 5A motor and the Power Electronic Controller.

The Future is NEUTRAL will also unveil the results of new Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs), confirming the significant environmental benefits of remanufacturing across THE REMAKERS’ entire product portfolio.

Commissioned by THE REMAKERS and conducted with consultancy Quantis in accordance with ISO standards and subject to an independent external critical review, these Life Cycle Assessments covered eight representative families of remanufactured components from THE REMAKERS’ portfolio. They assessed their performance across five environmental impact indicators: climate change, resource use (minerals and metals), acidification, freshwater eutrophication, and photochemical ozone formation.

One of the study’s key findings is that, among the product families analysed, components for electric vehicles deliver the most significant environmental benefits. These results are mainly driven by high reuse rates of materials with a high environmental impact, such as copper and electronic components.

• Remanufactured electric motors reduce environmental impact by at least 67% across each of the five indicators assessed.

The analyses also confirm substantial benefits from remanufacturing for internal combustion engines, as well as manual and hybrid transmissions, with impact reductions observed across all categories studied.

These findings provide insurers, fleet managers, and other professional customers with robust environmental data, based on a scientific methodology and independently verified, to inform their purchasing and repair strategies. When remanufactured parts meet the required technical and economic criteria, their environmental performance provides an additional decision-making criterion. It can also contribute to reporting on circular economy performance, particularly in the context of the disclosure requirements set out by the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).

Alongside THE REMAKERS, visitors will discover the complementary expertise of The Future is NEUTRAL’s other entities, demonstrating the Group’s ability to operate across the entire automotive circular economy value chain.

GAIA will highlight its expertise in traction battery repair. Drawing on its technical know-how, the company supports automakers in diagnosing and repairing batteries to extend their lifespan. Depending on their condition, batteries can be repaired for continued use in vehicles, prepared for a second life, or directed to recycling. GAIA will also be on hand to offer automakers and equipment manufacturers solutions for their dormant or damaged parts generated during the manufacturing process.

Driven by the ambitions of its new “Valeur 2030” strategic plan, INDRA AUTOMOBILE RECYCLING is supporting the transformation of the automotive industry towards a more circular model, from eco-design to the reuse of materials and parts, in order to maximize the recovery of end-of-life vehicles. With more than 40 years of expertise in end-of-life vehicle (ELV) processing and more than 20 years of experience in eco-design, INDRA provides its expertise to automakers and equipment manufacturers from the vehicle design stage, with the aim of improving vehicle repairability, dismantlability, recyclability and end-of-life recovery. At the trade show, INDRA will notably showcase its eco-design offering, which aims to integrate end-of-life considerations from the earliest stages of vehicle design. This approach enables recyclability rates of over 85% and recovery rates of more than 95%, while anticipating the requirements of future European end-of-life vehicle regulations.

OPISTO, in which INDRA is the principal shareholder, will showcase its digital solutions dedicated to expanding the reused parts market. A leading player in reused parts distribution in France and rapidly expanding across European markets, the company will present its Opisto.com marketplace, providing access to several million traced, inspected and guaranteed reused parts, as well as its software solution for ELV treatment centres, which facilitates the distribution of their inventories to repair professionals and private customers across Europe. With prices 70% lower than new parts on average, the offering provides an affordable and more sustainable alternative to new parts. This first participation at Automechanika in Germany marks a new milestone in its international development.
