Angelet Thema is a CHIS Case Manager at Jewish Family Services, as well as a dedicated volunteer at the Haitian Community Network. In between those two roles, she has also debuted as an up-and-coming children’s book author, who is now set to feature her work at a major book best at Printers Row in Chicago. The title of her story is “Princess LoursEmmy,” an endearing tale about a young girl beginning a new life in America, and the gift that comes with making wonderful friends.
“From head to toe, Princess LoursEmmy was simply brilliant. Anyone around her could see that perfection was her signature.”
Today, more creative storytellers are stepping into the spotlight, sharing heartwarming and meaningful stories that resonate with readers of all ages.
One such author is Angelet Thema, a CHIS Case Manager at Jewish Family Services and the author of the children’s book “Princess LoursEmmy.” Inspired by the vivid imaginations of her many nieces and nephews, Thema created a colorful story designed to bring smiles to young readers while offering encouragement to children adjusting to life in a new place.
“Princess LoursEmmy” follows a young princess who moves to America and faces the challenges of adapting to a new school and environment. Missing her friends, family, and familiar surroundings, she struggles to feel at home. However, through the friendship of Miss Talia, she discovers the joy of new experiences, meaningful connections, and embracing new opportunities.
Through her book, Thema hopes to inspire and empower young girls, especially those facing the challenges of relocation and adjustment, to remain hopeful and confident as they navigate change.
As part of her efforts to share this uplifting story with a wider audience, “Princess LoursEmmy” was exhibited at the 2025 Printers Row Lit Fest, held on September 6–7, 2025, in Chicago’s historic Printing House Row District. The book was showcased by ReadersMagnet, allowing festival attendees to discover Thema’s inspiring message of friendship, resilience, and belonging.
