Dr. Carmen E. Bynoe Bovell, PhD, Inspires Young Explorers with “Ten Magnificent Mountains”

In “Ten Magnificent Mountains,” early childhood education expert Dr. Carmen E. Bynoe Bovell takes young readers on a journey to some of the world’s most awe-inspiring peaks. The book introduces mountains not simply as landforms, but as sources of wonder, discovery, and inspiration, sparking curiosity and imagination in children.

Dr. Bovell’s fascination with mountains started in her childhood in Guyana, where they were hidden deep in the country’s interior and spoken of with mystery and reverence. Although she had never seen them up close, stories and songs about these towering natural wonders sparked her imagination. This early interest ultimately led her to write a book that helps children everywhere connect with and understand mountains.

The book “Ten Magnificent Mountains” explores iconic peaks such as Mount Kilimanjaro, the Himalayas, the Andes, the Alps, Mount Fuji, Ben Nevis, and Mount Everest. Each is presented to help children understand height, geography, and scale while imagining the thrill of visiting these majestic places. Through these stories, Dr. Bovell encourages children to ask questions, dream big, and grow strong and confident—just like the mountains they learn about.

This spring, from March 10–12, “Ten Magnificent Mountains” will be showcased at the London Book Fair, where readers and industry professionals may discover it at The Maple Staple, Stand 6A100, alongside a curated selection of international titles. The book is also available for purchase on Amazon and other major online bookstores.
