Dr. Carmen E. Bynoe Bovell Empowers Families with Values-Based Parenting in “The Four Rs of Parenting: Second Edition”

Dr. Carmen E. Bynoe Bovell has spent over fifty years shaping early childhood education through teaching, leadership, and mentorship. Her extensive experience spans preschool, elementary, and university levels, as well as local and federal program management. Born in Guyana, Dr. Bovell earned her doctorate in early childhood special education from the University of Maryland, College Park, focusing on social and emotional disorders in preschool-aged children.

Drawing on her decades of expertise, Dr. Bovell’s book, “The Four Rs of Parenting: Second Edition,” will be showcased at the London Book Fair 2026 through The Maple Staple, returning for its third year at Booth 6A100. The book explores “intentional parenting” through authentic conversations with parents, young adults, and grandparents, emphasizing the four core values of respect, responsibility, reciprocity, and restraint.

Through heartfelt stories and practical insights, “The Four Rs of Parenting: Second Edition” guides families in fostering ethical awareness, strong interpersonal connections, and meaningful relationships across generations. Parents and grandparents share tried-and-true strategies from their experiences, while young adults offer candid reflections on the challenges facing today’s youth, making this book a comprehensive resource for nurturing children in the twenty-first century.

Since retiring from federal service, Dr. Bovell continues to serve as an independent consultant, mentor, and coach. She resides in North Carolina and is the proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
