The debut novel of probation officer-turned-author Richard Enns, “The Gynecologist’s Daughter, will be included in The Maple Staple’s curated lineup of featured titles during the 2026 London Book Fair.

Displayed at Stand 6A100 from March 10 to 12, the book forms part of the Toronto-based bookstore’s international showcase of independent works, giving visitors the opportunity to explore a range of fiction and nonfiction selections presented throughout the event.

The novel opens with the murder of Robert Davis, a wealthy physician whose double life connects high society to the criminal underworld. Detective Michael Tough, present at the scene, becomes responsible for protecting fourteen-year-old Stacy Davis, the victim’s daughter, whose life has been shaped by exploitation and danger. As the investigation deepens, the story unfolds into a layered crime narrative centered on survival, justice, and the effort to break free from traumatic circumstances. Through its fast-moving plot and focus on complex moral situations, the novel explores the human consequences of crime while following a detective determined to protect those caught in its path.

Enns brings firsthand professional experience to his writing after spending nearly 22 years with the San Diego County Probation Department. Raised by missionary parents and educated in history and divinity, he has drawn on encounters with both hardship and resilience to shape the themes and emotional depth of his fiction. Based in San Diego, Enns blends his background in law enforcement and storytelling in this first published novel.
