Pavla Zakova-Laney Shares a Life of Purpose and Service in “Divine Destiny”

In “Divine Destiny: One Woman’s Spiritual Journey,” Pavla Zakova-Laney reflects on a life shaped by courage, inner transformation, and a deep sense of purpose. Pavla Zakova-Laney, a painfully shy child, discovered her voice through competitive ballroom dancing, a career she pursued professionally for 15 years. In 1986, driven by a fierce longing for freedom, she escaped her homeland and rebuilt her life in the United States. She went on to graduate as a Davis Scholar from Wellesley College in 1995 and later served in the Peace Corps as a teacher in Cameroon—an experience that transformed her life and clarified her calling.

Moved by the communities she served, she founded Educare-Africa in 2000, a nonprofit dedicated to expanding educational opportunities. For 25 years, she has served as its full-time volunteer president and executive director, embodying the compassion and service at the heart of her book.
