The self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet will display the book “The Blue House: An Elder’s Lifelong Search for Meaning and Purpose” by Myrna Denham Porter (with Dr. Jacob Shefa as co-author) at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2025. The book trade fair will take place from October 15 to 19, 2025, at Messe Frankfurt, Ludwig-Erhard-Anlage 1, 60327 Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
“The Blue House” offers a powerful reflection on resilience, values, and the enduring quest for a life of purpose.
Myrna was born in 1940 into a family with seventeen siblings in a remote part of Saskatchewan, Canada. Her father instilled discipline through persistence and hard work, while her mother nurtured her with love and forgiveness. Myrna’s early life was defined by hardship, limited opportunities, and a firm grounding in her parents’ Christian values. Together, these influences shaped Myrna’s view of “a life worth living.”
Determined to pursue education against the odds, Myrna left home at fourteen to work as a nanny while attending high school. At seventeen, she bravely emigrated to the United States, where her journey unfolded in remarkable ways.
Myrna first broke barriers as a flight attendant in the early 1960s, then built a family, and later earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Through her work in healthcare, counseling, and volunteer service, she touched countless lives and found deep fulfillment in giving to others.
Myrna’s friend and colleague, Dr. Jacob Shefa, a psychologist and author, encourages her to write this memoir. She began writing her memoirs to pass down lessons of strength, love, and resilience to her grandchildren. As she wrote, she realized her story held meaning beyond her family, offering guidance and inspiration to future generations seeking to live with intention and faith.
“The Blue House” is more than a memoir; it is a testament to perseverance, gratitude, and the profound belief that no one walks through life alone. Myrna’s story invites readers to rediscover the timeless values of commitment, service, and hope in a changing world.
