Wes Skilling’s Groundbreaking Exposé of Small Town Justice Gone Wrong Now Set for Global Stage at Frankfurt Book Fair 2025
The Frankfurt Book Fair continues to draw in thousands of independent authors, including a great number of investigative journalists who have shed new light on a number of cases near and dear to them. For Wes Skillings, it was the case of a young girl’s murder and a small town’s unhealthy desperation to reach a quick sentence for the suspect. That is why his book, “Mosaic Pieces,” is now set to exhibit at the said book fair, while raising awareness of glaring flaws in American justice.
“I never thought Kim did it. At the end of the book I had a different opinion. Neither Kim or his father were responsible for her death.” – Janet H.
The Frankfurt Book Fair – also known as Frankfurter Buchmesse – is the largest book fair in Europe, and it owes that size to the thousands of authors exhibiting there. These include not just novelists from traditional publishing firms but also independent journalists like Wes Skillings.
Having served for over 30 years for three different newspapers, his specialty lay in covering a variety of court events (including municipal meetings as well as murder trials). However, no case has lingered on his mind as much as the murder of Jennifer Hill.
Looking back, Skillings could only conclude that they had borne witness to the excesses of small-town justice. To expose the failings he had seen, he wrote “Mosaic Pieces: Surviving the Dark Side of American Justice.” This year, he successfully secured an exhibit for the book during the upcoming Frankfurt Book Fair.
Skillings had originally planned to turn his experience into a work of fiction. But after mulling over and realizing his real strength was in journalistic writing, he self-published “Mosaic Pieces” as a work of true crime (and a cautionary tale of what happens when emotions run high in the pursuit of a verdict).
Visitors to the Frankfurt Book Fair 2025 can find his book exhibited under ReadersMagnet, a self-publishing and book marketing company, beneath stand 6.0 A12. The book event will be taking place on October 15-19, 2025, at Messe Frankfurt, Ludwig-Erhard-Anlage 1, Frankfurt, Germany.
“Mosaic Pieces: Surviving the Dark Side of American Justice” is available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
