Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits to Acquire Anheuser-Busch’s Owned New York City Distribution Operation
Southern Glazer’s launching new dedicated New York beverage division to be led by experienced beer industry leader Devyn Dugger
Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits (Southern Glazer’s), the world’s preeminent distributor of beverage alcohol, and Anheuser-Busch, leading American manufacturer and maker of Michelob ULTRA, Busch Light, Budweiser, Bud Light, and Cutwater Spirits, today announced that they have reached an agreement for Southern Glazer’s to acquire Anheuser-Busch’s owned New York City distribution operation. This transaction will launch Southern Glazer’s Beverage Company of New York, covering Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island and the Bronx.

Additionally, Southern Glazer’s is continuing to invest in its existing total beverage distribution capabilities by launching a new dedicated New York beverage division, focused on supporting the growing consumer demand for Anheuser-Busch’s industry-leading portfolio of brands. The new Southern Glazer’s total beverage division will be led by Devyn Dugger in the role of Senior Vice President, New York Beverage Division, Southern Glazer’s Beverage Company. Devyn is a 20-year veteran of the Anheuser-Busch independent beer wholesaler network and a former Wholesaler Panel member and Ambassador of Excellence. Devyn began his career at Tri-Eagle Sales in Tallahassee, FL before moving to Gold Coast Eagle Distributing in Sarasota, FL and has spent the past 10 years at Ohio Eagle Distributing in West Chester, OH, where he was President and Equity Agreement Manager.

The transaction is expected to close later this year and includes Anheuser-Busch’s full product portfolio sold in the New York City area, from its industry leading beer brands to its fast-growing spirits-based ready-to-drink brands to its new energy drink line, Phorm Energy.
Upon close of the transaction, Southern Glazer’s plans to retain all Anheuser-Busch Bronx employees, utilize the existing Bronx facility, and begin distribution of Anheuser-Busch’s products in the New York City area that is currently serviced by this facility. Anheuser-Busch is working closely with Southern Glazer’s to ensure a smooth employee transition and maintain uninterrupted distribution of its products.
