Carla Zimmerman’s The Wild, Wild East is a light-hearted ski for a Purim celebration, set in the old town in Shushan, Persia. It follows the biblical characters through the Purim story with a Western cowboy twist. Sheriff Ahasuerus closes down the Shushan Saloon owned by the hot-headed Madam Vashti and runs her out of town. Miss Esther Lou, the new schoolmarm, is considered a breath of fresh air. However, her dear Uncle Mordechai, a bank teller in town, offended an influential man, Mr. Haman. These characters connect with one another through their dilemmas, leading to the predictable triumph of the good and demise of the bad.
This story is book 4 of Zimmerman’s Shpiel Time series. This skit is good for 12 to 15 actors. It also has notes for costumes, sets, décor, and ambience. Zimmerman also includes bonus parody songs to add to the quirk and fun of the story.
