Elliott Gilbert’s delightful children’s book, Rudy Rabbit Tried, charmed readers of all ages at the Los Angeles Book Confab, held on April 23–24, 2025, at the Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City, and the 2025 Los Angeles Times Festival of Books (LATFOB), held on April 26–27, 2025, at the University of Southern California (USC) campus.

Exhibited at both events by the self-publishing and marketing company ReadersMagnet, Rudy Rabbit Tried drew attention for its heartfelt story and whimsical illustrations. At ReadersMagnet’s Los Angeles Book Confab, Gilbert’s work was displayed among a curated collection of titles where authors read excerpts and connected directly with an engaged audience.

The Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, which is one of the largest and most celebrated book festivals in the U.S., brought together thousands of book lovers, authors, and publishers to celebrate the written word. Rudy Rabbit Tried stood out among children’s offerings at ReadersMagnet’s exhibit.

His artwork has appeared in galleries nationwide and has earned numerous awards.

Elliott Gilbert was born in Brooklyn, New York. He, his wife, and three children lived in the West Village for many years, after which he moved to Hoboken, New Jersey. His education included the Brooklyn Museum Art School, Parsons School of Design, Pratt Institute, and the Art Students’ League. He has authored and illustrated several children’s books, among them “My Cat Story,” (Amazon), “Max Goes Hunting,” (Amazon), “The Best-Loved Doll” (Caudill, Holt), Rudy Rabbit Tried" (Amazon), and “Lizzie” (Kumin/Seven Stories Press).
