This book is full of Deborah Price’s memories growing up on a small island. The story starts when she was three and a half years old, and it shows how she coped with life’s ups and downs.

Her dad had an accident off Wades Beach, and that beach is mentioned a few times throughout the book. It is funny how, growing up there, Deborah always seemed to end up at that beach. It is a nice beach, one of the two main beaches on the island. But it seemed like all her friends and all the islanders went to the other beach.

The book is full of times she spent raising animals in her spare time. She was a member of one of the two fire departments there, while her dad was a member of the other fire department.

There are stories about many animals and how they filled her life. She treasures their memories still today. This book takes her through her different jobs and things that made her happy throughout her life, up until the present.
