A Taste of Artistry: Four Seasons Hotel Seoul Appoints Award-Winning Steven Jin as Executive Pastry Chef

Seoul, Korea – WEBWIRE

Drawing on a resume as dazzling as his creations, the award-winning Steven Jin joins Four Seasons Hotel Seoul at Executive Pastry Chef. From winning silver at the French Dessert Championships to honing his craft across multiple Michelin-starred restaurants, Chef Jin’s innovative approach has seen him on a stellar career trajectory. Now, the visionary creative brings his signature style to Seoul’s buzzing metropolis - as well as a new Afternoon Tea offering to the Hotel’s world-class dining experiences.

The newest artist on the Hotel’s gastronomy scene, Chef Jin’s decade-long career has taken him from France to Hong Kong and Macau. He’s worked alongside the industry’s finest within a series of restaurants that boast a remarkable 13 Michelin stars in total. Yet while he thrives on creating visually stunning and masterful desserts, Chef Jin’s dedication is to fresh, seasonal ingredients. With elevating the “organic flavours gifted by Mother Nature” as his goal, Chef Jin is excited to explore Korea’s rich culinary heritage and merge locally sourced produce with his meticulous attention to detail.

Born in China, Chef Jin lived in the Mediterranean town of Toulon in southeastern France as a child. Here - in the birthplace of patisserie - Chef Jin developed his passion for sweet culinary artistry. Winning silver in the prestigious national French Dessert Championship (Championnat de France du Dessert) in 2015 led to the talented young Steven being hand-picked to join a Michelin-starred kitchen on the French Riviera, and the launch of his rocket-fuelled career.

From there, Chef Jin carved out his unique path across Michelin-starred establishments including Château Eza Hotel on the Côte d´Azur; l’Olivier at La Bastide de St. Tropez Hotel; and three-Michelin-starred L’Epicure. Pastry sous chef roles at Michelin-starred Le Restaurant des Rois and two-Michelin-starred La Voile came before Chef Jin headed to Morpheus Hotel in Macau’s City of Dreams to work as pastry sous chef under the legendary Alain Ducasse at his two-Michelin-starred restaurant. A tenure at L’Envol, the two-Michelin-starred French restaurant at The St. Regis Hong Kong followed, with Chef Jin promoted from chef pâtissier in 2020 to executive pastry chef in 2022.

Whether it’s the high-octane kitchen of a five-star restaurant or the bustling markets of his new destination, Chef Jin relishes the opportunity to immerse himself in life-enriching experiences. “I’m eager to discover the vibrant culture, rich history, and dynamic culinary scene of this incredible city,” he says, reflecting on his new role. “Seoul’s blend of tradition and innovation is the perfect backdrop for this next step in my journey and I can’t wait to draw inspiration from Korea’s deep-rooted traditions to infuse creativity into my work.”

Unsurprisingly, he’s already fizzing with fresh ideas. His plans include a sophisticated dessert program that reflects Korea’s culinary heritage while celebrating locally sourced ingredients, and creating artful Afternoon Tea menus to surprise guests and locals alike.

Chef Jin’s elevated artistry joins a renowned dining scene at Four Seasons Hotel Seoul: Michelin-starred Cantonese fare at Yu Yuan; modern Italian flavours at Boccalino; modern Japanese cuisine at Akira Back; and live world stations in The Market Kitchen. Secret speakeasy Charles H. - ranked Best Bar in Korea and one of the World’s 50 Best Bars - showcases refined cocktails, while a three-part menu explores the past, present and future of Seoul’s after-hours culture at hip nightspot, OUL.
