CURA at Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon Earns Two Suns in the Repsol Portugal 2025 Guide
The esteemed Repsol Portugal 2025 Guide has awarded Two Suns to CURA, the fine dining restaurant at Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon, led by Chef Rodolfo Lavrador.
Following a hiatus since its previous presence in Portugal (1996–2007), the Repsol Guide has returned to the country, continuing its mission to celebrate the best of Portuguese gastronomy. Inspired by its Spanish counterpart, the guide awards one, two, or three Suns to restaurants that meet rigorous criteria established in collaboration with the renowned Basque Culinary Center. A Two Suns rating signifies a restaurant where excellence is paramount - where technique and top-tier ingredients come together in an ambiance designed to create an unforgettable dining experience. Impeccable service and an inviting atmosphere make these establishments well worth the journey.
[p"It is with great enthusiasm that we see CURA enter the Repsol Guide, receiving the distinguished honour of Two Suns and to be among the best of the 70 restaurants honoured with Sun Awards by the Repsol Guide,” says Guilherme Costa, General Manager of Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon.[/p]Each restaurant in the guide is rigorously evaluated by a panel of more than 20 expert local inspectors, who visit establishments across Portugal, including the Azores and Madeira. These inspectors come from diverse professional backgrounds - including law, design, journalism, education, engineering, music, economics, psychology, and medicine - ensuring an unbiased and well-rounded perspective. While not directly linked to the hospitality industry, all inspectors share a deep appreciation for gastronomy and a passion for discovering and sharing remarkable dining experiences.
Chef Rodolfo Lavrador expresses his gratitude for the recognition, stating: "This honour is a testament to the daily passion and commitment of our team to everyone who comes to CURA. The Repsol Guide’s return to Portugal highlights the growing prominence of Portuguese gastronomy, both nationally and internationally. As a chef, I feel incredibly proud to see our work acknowledged on such a prestigious platform. I’m thrilled - not just for myself, but for my team, for the hotel, and, above all, for CURA, which has evolved significantly over the past four years and continues to push boundaries as we approach our fifth anniversary"
Looking ahead, Chef Lavrador remains committed to innovation and excellence: "At CURA, we will continue to elevate our culinary offerings, ensuring that every guest enjoys a unique and memorable experience. Our cuisine is rooted in honesty, flavour, and creativity, with a strong emphasis on seasonality and the finest national ingredients - sourced responsibly and sustainably. We are excited about the future of Portuguese gastronomy and eager to explore new horizons"
CURA offers two tasting menus: a 10-moment experience and a 5-moment option, both available in vegetarian versions. Each menu is a journey through Portuguese ingredients, meticulously crafted to showcase their full potential through Chef Lavrador’s innovative and creative approach.
This recognition by the Repsol Portugal 2025 Guide reaffirms CURA’s place among the country’s finest dining destinations, further solidifying Portugal’s reputation as a rising force in the global culinary scene.
